Nassington Village History Project
Welcome to the website of the Nassington Village History Project.
The project was started in 2019 and is hosted by the Nassington Parish Council. The project benefited from a transfer of the archives curated by the Willowbrook History Society. These comprise a rich source of history about Nassington and neighbouring villages and have been reordered into a series of topics ( see History by Topics ) . This will enable a look back at the buildings, businesses, clubs, people and much more. There is more in the archives than can be sensibly uploaded to this website and enquiries as to access to the original archive can be addressed to the project team ( see Contacts).
The Events tab will take you to a calendar of meetings and activities involving the project . Unless otherwise stated, access is free of charge and open to all – though the organisers have to reserve the right to cancel or refuse entry if appropriate.
An index of resources can be found via the Index tab. Such is the range of materials that it may take time for that index to be completed and the project is benefitting from new materials being offered up from time to time as old photos and papers are found by residents past and present. If you have something you are happy to be shared with others on this site please do let the team know ( see Contacts).
The project is open to anyone wishing to share their skills or interests and over time is intended to host talks, displays and tours. We hope to compile some Living Histories too. Collaborations are also being explored with neighbouring villages which have their own archives or historians. So, whether you have skills as a local historian or would just like a social coffee and chat whilst browsing through some interesting local history, feel free to become involved as much or as little as you wish.
